April 1st, 2011 – Grape Hyacinth

I took this in the park near work recently while checking out the macro capabilities of the Canon kit lens. I love all the flowers at this time of year as there’s so many great opportunities for photography! I’ve not played with selective colour in black and white photography before, although I’ve liked the effect for some time. I remember watching Sin City and marvelling at the dramatic effect the selective colouring had on the scenes. I’m really pleased with the results – it’s definitely a technique I’ll be trying again!
