Closeup of a Painted Lady caterpillar

I spotted this beautiful caterpillar whilst bouldering at Almscliff during the summer. A little research suggests that this is most likely a Painted Lady caterpillar (Cynthia Cardui), a remarkable species which migrates from the UK to North Africa every Autumn!

Thanks to UK Safari for the excellent information.
